In Memory

Since the CCRT began in 1999, we have seen hundreds of dogs come into our care and be adopted by loving, wonderful families. We are always incredibly sad to hear when a CCRT rescue dog moves on to Rainbow Bridge. However, we know they spent their last years being adored and cared for by the special people who adopted them. Below you will find photos and stories of some of the dogs that are now waiting for us at the Bridge.

If you have a CCRT dog that has passed on, you are welcome to submit a photo and story via email to info@ccrt.net and it would be a privilege to include it on this webpage.

Gone but not forgotten. My little Dozer has passed. I miss him very much. He was given a life expectancy of day to day but he lived a solid 12 years 3 months shy of his 13th birthday. I write this with tears in my eyes. He  passed away October 17th at 1143 am.  Rest my sweet boy....

Jelly Bean : RIP

On October 1, 2008 I adopted a chihuahua from the CCRT.  Her adopted name was Renee, she was renamed Jelly Bean aka Beans. It is with great sadness that I inform you that Beans passed away yesterday from complications of old age. Thank you to the CCRT for allowing me to adopt the sweetest little angel.  She brought me great joy and love. Regards, Samantha...

Remembering Daisy

Remembering Daisy

Our baby Daisy has lost her battle with brain tumor. She fought, had blood work, ultrasound,x-ray. We fought the battle and lost the war.  Our heart is bleeding and words can’t express the hurt that her departure has caused. We loved her sooooo much. Crying just doesn’t take that emptiness and hurt that she has caused inside our home. I would like to thank the members of the Canadian Chihuahua Rescue from the bottom of my heart to have given us the privilege to have her in our lives . She filled our home with happiness in her...

Super-sweet Misty Has Crossed Rainbow Bridge

November 12, 2016 RIP Darling girl.     UPDATE September 28, 2015 from Misty’s foster mom: We have noticed that Misty’s eyesight has been getting worse.  Her good eye is quickly getting really cloudy like her blind eye.  She has been walking into things more in the last week.  If I am standing in front of her more than 3 ft away she can hear me very well but can’t seem to pin point and look at me she just looks around. If I am standing close to her and I call her she can see me.  Outside in the sun...

Chihuahua Esme was a Long-Term Foster with CCRT

June 4, 2015 Esme has gone to frolic on the other side of the rainbow bridge. May she rest in peace.   . Esme was 13.5years old when she first came into the care of Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport (CCRT).  She is a puppy mill survivor that was transferred to CCRT by a shelter. Esme is a special girl.  Not only did she survive the puppy mill life, she has also survived cancer. She is hard of hearing and has trouble seeing clearly, and has a little trouble walking as her back legs are slow. Esma is a scared little girl, but...

Lola

Our precious Lola went to the Rainbow Bridge on Friday night. I am sure she is happily playing with her furbuddies. In 2008, 4 year old Lola was surrendered to CCRT. She weighed 3 lbs , had no hair and was desperately ill when she was surrendered. We fought long and hard to keep her alive. She was diagnosed with a serious liver condition and became our permanent foster . Taking care of her dietary needs, and with lots of love, she flourished. Her liver condition was not cured, was always a concern, but it was well maintained. A few months...

Titom

Titom

Titom (petit homme – little man) came into our life in April 2004 at just 4 years old. He had been surrended for “personal” reasons from his former owners. From the minute Titom walked in the door he assumed the position literally right on top of me on the couch. He seemed to know right away that this was his forever home. Titom was a couch potato, but he loved his walks more than anything else. For such a little guy, he could walk for hours if permitted. Titom loved sunning himself too. If it was too cold to be outside, he...
